1) Cabinet approves 4-5 %increase in msp of serveral kharif crops   

MSPs for crops such as paddy , cotton, jower, bajra, maize , groundnut and soyabeen have been increased by  4-5 %form the rates last year.

3) Govt buys record 418.47 lakh tn wheat at MSP for Rs 82,648 cr this year

Till June 8, the government has purchased 418.47 lakh tonnes of wheat as against 373.22 lakh tonnes in the corresponding period of the previous year. "About 46 lakh farmers have already been benefitted from the ongoing RMS procurement operations with MSP value of Rs 82,648.38 crore," the statement said.

4) Govt hikes paddy MSP by Rs 72/qtl to Rs 1,940 for 2021-22 crop year

 minimum support price (MSP) of paddy marginally by Rs 72 per quintal to Rs 1,940 per quintal for the 2021-22 crop year, while the rates of other kharif crops were also hiked.



5) Cotton industry is trying to poach farmers to increase acreage as farmers may opt for edible oils due to record prices

Cotton prices have increased to more than Rs 7000 per quintal as against the minimum support price (MSP) of Rs 5825/quintal for long staple cotton. While prices of soyabean seeds are ruling above Rs 7000/quintal as against MSP of Rs 3880/quintal.
